Hi! My name is Richard Fernandez, a blogger and internet marketer from Manila, Philippines. Let me tell you a little background of myself.

Education and Employment

I’m a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering graduate from FEU-East Asia College in Manila, Philippines. This course deals mostly with computer hardware but computer programming and web applications somehow caught my interest.

With my knowledge of assembly language, I applied as an anti-virus engineer in Trend Micro’s Philippines branch in Libis Quezon City. Trend Micro is the creator of PC-Cillin anti-virus software now called Trend Internet Security. My most notable experience is when I was part of a team who analyzed and created the virus signature of the infamous “I LOVE YOU” virus.

Later on, I joined the research and development team to handle more complicated virus behaviors and created scan engine solutions for these types of viruses. I also got a chance to become a quality assurance engineer that tests scan engine solutions provided by our scan engine developers.

My last two years in the company was spent as being a people manager supervising a team of quality assurance engineers. In 2008, I decided to leave employment to embark on an entrepreneurship journey. I’ve been into real estate for most of the time in 2008 and later got into internet marketing and online business.

My Internet Marketing Journey

It started on May, 2007 when I saw an invitation to attend the 2007 World Internet Summit in Singapore from a friend’s blog. Probably, that’s the first time that I saw a sales page written by internet marketers. The copy was so enticing that it convinced me to attend. Aside from that, I was already in search of an entrepreneurial venture that I want to get in so the timing is just right.

Long story short, I was able to attend the event. I got my first taste of what internet marketing is together with the sales pitch fest of the different internet marketers on stage. The new-found knowledge somehow educated me but more than anything else, information overload has taken me over. And after the seminar, I don’t know where to start.

In November of 2007, I discovered Blogger and decided to study it. That’s when I first setup my first blog. Google Adsense was then my only way of monetizing the blog. With very little knowledge on traffic building and SEO, the blog of made very little money.

Despite of that, I was not discouraged as I am enjoying what I’m doing. Learning new things and getting new results on this field were enough to fuel me to explore the world of blogging and internet marketing. My major focus in 2008 should have been in real estate but I find it more enjoying hacking blog themes and codes.

In September of 2008, I decided to let go of real estate and put more time in discovering the secrets of blogging. During that time, I found a fellow Pinoy blogger named Carl Ocab and his success inspired me to know at least his SEO traffic secrets. At that time, he is getting massive traffic being in the first page of Google for the highly competitive keyword “Make Money Online”.

I devoured his blog and got really some great tips in ranking well in SEO. I used his tips to put up real estate blogs powered by Wordpress and monetized through Adsense. I can say that his methods are effective as I was able to rank in Page 1 of Google and Yahoo for the main keyword I optimized for my 3 blogs.

I was doing this for around 3 months until I got word from Carl’s blog about Joel Christopher who will conduct a 1-hour seminar on internet marketing in the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila. I attended the seminar and jumped in without hesitation when he opened up applications for his internet marketing apprentice program for FREE for Filipino students. Below is a short video of that seminar. Can you spot where I am seated?

Long story short again, I was accepted in the program and reached until Phase 3. Joel offered me to work for his team in Manila part-time while the apprentice program was still on-going. When it was completed, I finally work full time to fully take advantage of the vast internet marketing training that his staffs are getting while at the same time getting compensated for practicing it to the internet marketing outsourcing tasks for his clients.

Specifically, I handle writing tasks, manage client project teams, and as an internet marketer for Joel’s products, services, and seminars.

I’m more of a techy kind of person and I love the intricasies involved in Search Engine Optmization. Social Media is something that I am currently learning and enjoying today.

I think that’s it! This About page have already gone too long. Anyways, enjoy, learn, and implement what I will be sharing in this blog.

To your internet marketing success!

Richard
